Azienda Agricola La Sala

Toscana – Italia

The estate results from the unification of two plots of land (belonging to two separate large farms), which were purchased in 1975 by the Pacini family. Originally the property was mainly laid out on terraces, on which vines and olive trees were intermingled. These crops were abandoned for over twenty years before being recovered by the new owners, who carried out substantial replanting, thereby creating three hectares (7.5 acres) of vineyards (predominantly of Sangiovese) and over two hectares of specialized olive groves.

The remaining 15 hectares (37 acres) are partly planted with chestnut trees, and partly with oak. The small winery has up-to-date equipment, with stainless steel vinification tanks, small Slavonian oak botti for the maturation of the Chianti Classico, 300-litre barriques (66 gallon) for the Querciagrande and 50-litre oak kegs for the Spéra di Sole. The first vintage that the estate bottled was the 1983, put on the market in 1986. After just a very few years, Podere Capaccia's commitment to quality started to reap its rewards: the domaine's products have in fact rapidly found outlets all around the world, even though they are only sold in top restaurants and select wine shops.

The main international wine and food magazines have also always given outstanding ratings and comments to the wines
made at this tiny estate.
